The Bourbon and Water Company water system is classified as a Transient Non-Community Water System (like a campground for instance) by the EPA. This means that our water system serves at least 25 people for at least 60 days a year but not the same 25 people for more than 6 months/year (like a school or office building). As a Transient Non-Community Water System, we are required to test regularly for pathogenic or disease causing bacteria and for indicators of surface water pollution such as fertilizers or intrusion from septic tanks. As a Transient Non-Community Water System, we are not required monitor for Arsenic, however from time to time we have testing done to assure we are below State guidelines.
